Product refers to a single product that can have one or more install associated. An example could be PaintShop Pro for example. It exists in several different versions, but it is the same product. For PSP, you could create PaintShop Pro as a product and then create an Install for each version.
To create a new product, open the Installs browse select an appropriate Install group and click the New button. You can also create a product in the Update Install window by simply type it in.
Once you have added a product, you can add installs for it.
