the images may not show up at all.
Vordur main window
From the main menu you can open the help or manual for the program. The manual
is provided as 86 page PDF file which you can print out if you want. The help
is activated by pressing the F1 key on the keyboard and is context sensitive, meaning
that it will show the appropriate help for the window that is visible when you press
the F1 key.

Main window and help
You can use the toolbar at the top or the menus to access the various windows and options
in Vordur. Each button on the toolbar opens a corresponding window where you can browse
through information and add, edit or delete items.

Quick Setup
 |
Program Setup
The Quick Setup window has 4 different options that you switch between by clicking on the
buttons on the left part of the window. The first part deals with general program setup,
such as selecting a wallpaper for the program and if the install list window should
be opened automatically when the program starts. The others are show lists of Install Groups,
Owners and Producers.
|
Install Groups
Additional comments can be added for each group.
|
Install Groups
Install Groups allow you to create multiple groups that you can use to make it
easier to manage your installs. Producers can also be associated with one or
more groups to make it easy to manage the installs from that perspective as well.
|
Owners
Many producers require a name to be
required for a software licence. Vordur makes it easy by using the Owner but
you can also enter a different name for each install if required.
|
Software Owners
Here you can enter information about Software Owners. For a home user that would
in most cases be you. If you are using Vordur in a company, others may be
registered as owners of software.
|
Producers
Vordur takes care of all that by providing the ability to store
detailed producer information and associate it with the install.
This makes it very easy to jump to the producer website, look up phonenumber
or fax number. Hot links make it easy to point and click to jump
directly a website or start email.
|
Software Producers
Keeping track of who produces the software is very important when
time comes to seek support or check for updates for your software.
|
Installs
Hotlinks in the detail list on the right give you a one click access to
websites and email as well as run the install file,
standard file properties and all kinds of other options.
|
Software Installs
This is where all the information comes together to provide you a quick way
to find exactly what you need.
|
|
Vordur can store all the necessary download information, including login and password
for authenticated download, password for the install itself and any serial numbers
or additional information you may need.
Vordur can check if install files exist but you can turn that checking off
for individual installs.
|
Here you can select the install file or run it directly.
Vordur can retrieve version information from executable install files and
add them manually or automatically when files are imported.
The software can also use external programs to open the install if it is
stored in some proprietary file format.
|
|
|
Vordur keeps track of detailed producer information and on the Producer tab
you can see the producer related information.
You have hotlinks to producer
website and email addresses as well as physical address, phone number as well
as install specific web address and email address.
|
|
You can store a nicely formatted description of your software if you want in the
Description. The Description is a Rich Text Format (RTF) text entry where you
can format the text the way you want it.
|
|
Import Files
Another window then shows up where you select what group to import into and what owner
to use. You can select a producer or let Vordur retrieve that information if it can.
Vordur will attempt to retrieve the product name from the version information, but you
can also set it to use the filename instead. Vordur does a very good job at formatting
the filename into a suitable product name if it can not find any product name information
in the install file itself.
|
Import
Importing files makes it very easy to get your installs into Vordur so you
can manage them and add information about serial numbers, download information, etc.
Select the folder you want to import from and then select the files from the list
on the right. Right click with the mouse and select "Import" from the dropdown menu.
Multiple folders and subfolders can also be imported and additional file filter applied
to specify what type of files will be imported, for example *.exe;*.zip etc.
This option is ideal if you have installs in multiple subfolders and you want to import
them all, but limit the import to all *.exe files for example.
